Another Biden Nominee Bites The Dust — GOP Celebrates

Another Biden nominee bites the dust!

David Chipman, a virulently anti-2nd Amendment advocate, was apparently Biden’s top choice to head the Burea of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).

Yes, that’s right: Biden wants someone opposed to the 2nd Amendment to run the ATF, which shows the extent of non-respect Biden has for the Constitution.

Too bad for Biden that he picked a nominee that was a little too radical, as the GOP made it abundantly clear they would refuse to back down on this particularly radical candidate.

And, in a fairly large, yet great, surprise, the GOP doesn’t even have to fight anymore, as Chipman is now withdrawing from the process.

Chipman is now the second Biden nominee to not go through, as Neera Tanden’s nomination also collapsed in the spring.

Of course, Biden had to give a typically bloviating commentary on a nominee that should have never been near the ATF in the first place.

“David Chipman spent 25 years in distinguished service to our country as an ATF agent … Unfortunately, Republicans in Congress have made clear that they intend to use gun crime as a political talking point instead of taking serious steps to address it …

That’s why they’ve moved in lockstep to block David Chipman’s confirmation, and it’s why they side with gun manufacturers over the overwhelming majority of the American people in opposing commonsense measures like universal background checks.” [Source: Fox News]

“Distinguished service,” huh?

It’s interesting that Biden says that, given what details have surfaced about Chipman’s “distinguished service” in the past 25 years.

First and foremost, he has been a loud advocate against owning various types of guns, in particular the AR-15 and others. Those facts in and of themselves made him a wildly unpopular candidate with 2nd Amendment advocates.

However, Chipman also provided “distinguished service” in other ways as well.

2007, when Chipman was evaluating the exams of individuals wishing to become Special Agents in Charge at the ATF, he made rather unsavory comments regarding the demographics of the exam takers.

“Wow, there were an unusually large number of African American agents that passed the exam this time. They must have been cheating.” [Source: Breitbart]

That comment is rather astonishing, and what’s even more astonishing is that Biden is apparently just fine with not only aligning with Chipman, but also nominating him to one of the most prime positions in the Cabinet.

Needless to say, many conservatives are thrilled with how events have unfolded with Biden’s disastrous ATF nomination, as Senator Ted Cruz released a rather relieved statement.

“President Biden finally withdrew his nomination of David Chipman-a partisan gun control zealot-to be director Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The nomination of Mr. Chipman was an attack on the Second Amendment and an affront to Americans who value freedom, safety, self-defense, and the right to keep and bear arms. The Senate has sent a loud, clear, and bipartisan message to President Biden: any nominee to the ATF must respect the Constitution and lawful gun ownership.” [Source: U.S. Senate]

The withdrawal of Chipman is certainly a loud message, though one can only wonder if Biden is furiously plotting revenge behind the scenes, as he clearly has it out for a number of conservatives.

Even Mitch McConnell issued a statement that was fairly harsh, referring to Chipman’s nomination as “terrible.”

“Glad to hear reports the White House is taking my advice and pulling the terrible nomination of David Chipman. Absurd that a vocal opponent of Americans’ constitutional rights was ever picked to run ATF. This is a win for the Second Amendment and law-abiding American citizens.” [Source: Fox News]

A major win for the Second Amendment, indeed.

Until Biden’s next attacks on it …
