Impeachment 2.0 has unfortunately dragged on, in large part courtesy of the rather obvious RINOs who absurdly voted for the impeachment to proceed forward on “constitutional” grounds. While the number of GOP defectors totaled six, that is still six too many RINOs skulking about in the dark corridors of the swamp.
However, Ted Cruz remains fully confident in an acquittal for Trump, and he did not hold back his real views whatsoever in a recent interview with Fox News. Needless to say, Cruz’s commentary marks a rather refreshing change from the simpering Republicans who apparently follow whatever the Democrats tell them to do.
“Well, I think we’ll see the trial continue for the rest of the week. It is reminiscent of Shakespeare that it is full of sound and fury and yet signifying nothing. I think are you going to see a lot of partisan table pounding. You’re going to see a lot of effort to pull on emotion. We saw the beginning of that with the Hollywood video that the House managers began with. I think we’ll see a lot more of that today and tomorrow.” [Source: Fox News]
You gotta love Ted Cruz, who eloquently invoked Shakespeare while ruthlessly criticizing the Democrats’ rather unabashed political theater. Furthermore, Cruz is dead on accurate when recounting the Democrats’ approach as “full of sound and fury and yet signifying nothing.”
After all, the Democrats are known as “Do-Nothing Democrats” for a reason.
And apparently, when Democrats actually do something, they manage to screw themselves up epically, which has already occurred at least twice during the total sham of an impeachment trial.
First, the Democrats apparently decided it would be a lovely idea to show an edited video of Trump’s remarks at Capitol Hill on January 6, deliberately removing the word “peacefully” from his speech. Needless to say, this “evidence” drew sharp rebuke from more than one individual, including GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York.
“If they’re going to start playing the video of what the president said, how do you cut it out at the point where the president’s telling his supporters to [protest] peacefully and patriotically?” [Source: The Blaze]
Well, Mr. Zeldin, as salient as your observation is, the Democrats clearly edited the video to remove real counterevidence to their doctored “evidence.” And, like typical Democrats, they did so in the most obvious manner possible.
In addition, Democrats also managed to draw the wrath of Senator Mike Lee, who requested for evidence to be removed after the evidence clearly misrepresented a phone call between himself and Trump on January 6.
As it turns out, Trump thought that he was calling another senator, Sen. Tuberville, not Mike Lee, and the Democrats, as usual, basically developed creative lies out of nothing.
“Statements attributed to me moments ago by the impeachment managers, statements relating to the contents of the conversations between phone calls involving Trump and Sen. Tuberville, were not made by me, were not accurate.” [Source: Washington Examiner]
Democrats initially attempted to fight Lee, though they ultimately had to succumb to his request. Nonetheless, they did not succumb without threatening to “relitigate” the matter on Thursday.
On top of the hilarity of the Democrats’ incompetence when it comes to the basic presentation of evidence, Cruz also pointed out the most relevant fact of all: No matter what garbage the Democrats come up with in terms of “evidence,” all the efforts in the world will not change an indisputable fact: They simply do not have the votes for their vindictive shenanigans.
“At the end of the day, it is not going to succeed. President Trump is going to be acquitted. In order to convict him, it takes 67 votes. There are not 67 votes. Every senator knows that, the House managers know that. Everybody knows that. But they are going through political theater and they’re going through political theater because for four years congressional Democrats, they have been obsessed and consumed with hatred for President Trump.” [Source: Fox News]
Amen, Senator Cruz. Now, when will the rest of the Democrats get the point?
Probably never, as Impeachment 2.0 makes them appear far busier than they’ve really been in the past year, and as soon as that trial is over, the spotlight is back on … leftist incompetence.
And, most importantly of all, assuming Cruz’s prediction is true, Trump IS eligible to run for public office again … and heh is needed more than ever.
